Absences
When Your Child is Absent
When your child is absent from school, it is necessary to provide an excuse for the absence on the day that they return. the excuse may be written, or submitted electronically. If sending a written note, please be sure to include the first and last name of the child, the parent's name, the teacher's name and the child’s six-digit ID number. It is not necessary to call on the day of the absence. Click here to submit an electronic excuse.
If your child has an appointment first thing in the morning and will be late arriving at school, please send/submit an excuse on the previous day or call the office before 9:00 am that morning. This way, it will count as an early dismissal rather than a tardy.
Taking A Trip
While we do not encourage the taking of trips during the school year, we realize that it is sometimes unavoidable. If your child(ren) will be absent from school for more than two days due to travel, you must fill out a Trip Request Form at least two weeks before the date of departure. This form can be obtained in the office or downloaded by clicking the link above. The form must be submitted at least one week in advance. After completing the form, have your child give it to their homeroom teacher. The teacher will sign the form and submit it to the principal for approval.

Dismissal
Gym Walk-Up Dismissal (for families that pick up their student every day and have already registered with the office)
- You must remain in your car until 3:05 PM.
- At 3:10 PM, adults picking up students are to social distance to the greatest extent possible and line up on the sidewalk underneath the gym overhang to the gym doors. There will be no need to enter the school.
- You are not permitted to park along the main driveway, in front of the school, or in the YMCA lot.
- When you get to the gym door, please present your placard to pick up your student(s). Students WILL NOT be released unless a placard is presented. This is for the safety of the students as, at any given time, there may be a substitute or a staff member on duty that is not familiar with you.
- Once the staff member sees your placard, he or she will dismiss your student(s) to you.
- If your student is registered for Gym Walk-Up and a request is made for them to leave a different way more than three times, it may result in a loss of this privilege. The reason for this is to help ensure student safety. Early dismissals or absences will not count against this number.
- Please note that you may not pick up any students other than your own at Gym Walk-Up. If another student is to leave with you, you must pick up your child at Gym Walk-Up, then sign the other student out at the front doors. This allows us to ensure that students are leaving the building with the correct adult.
Permanent Pickup
- Parents/guardians must form two lines in the parking lot near the Kindergarten entrance.
- Students enrolled in the Permanent Pickup program will be called at the end of the announcements each day.
- Students will then report directly to the LGI.
- When all students are present, the children will be walked out to the front of the school building to the parent/guardian's vehicles.
- Please recycle your car sign.
- Parking along the sidewalk will not be permitted; failure to park where instructed will result in loss of permanent pick-up services.
